Here you will find images of the motion reactive stairs that my roommate Ian Ayyad and I designed for the steps on our porch. The project used a total of five individually addressable LED strips that were each one meter long. Each strip was soldered and programmed to communicate with its own distance measurer. Each distance measurer acts as a motion sensor and triggers each step to change to a solid color when stepped on. Due to the complexities of the project and the method of programming using Arduino code, a total of 40 cables were required between the microcontroller and the breadboard.

Diagram illustrating the the conceptual color changing sequence of the steps. The original intention was to also include sounds that would be triggered by the distance measurers. This may be implemented in the future.
